OEM Problems

Trailers, dollies, and towed implements have no engine of their own, but they still carry brakes, axles, cargo, and often their own power systems. Audesse offers ready-made solutions for these common problems:

Common Problems Audesse’s Solution
Braking & Stability Our ABS & ESC software component runs on the FlexCase E or G and is configurable for 2, 4, or 6-wheel architectures, with yaw control through differential braking. It can act as the primary brake controller or add ABS and ESC alongside an existing one.
Wheel-End & Tire Health Monitor hub and bearing temperatures and tire pressure. Alert the driver and dispatch when a wheel end runs hot, and flag the trailer for inspection before it leaves the yard.
Cargo & Reefer Control Read reefer temperature, adjust setpoints remotely with FlexConnect, and keep an audit trail for cold chain loads. Door-open detection can trigger an alert or a remote lock.
Power & Connectivity A towed vehicle only has power when the tractor or its own battery provides it. FlexCase runs on 12 & 24V nominal systems, keeps logging while offline, and uploads its data over Wi-Fi or global LTE once a connection is available.
Advanced Software Our state of the art controllers are designed to support advanced vehicles up to an ASIL D safety rating on 12 & 24V nominal systems. Use FlexConnect to collect actionable data and push updates remotely and securely.

Two-Way Control with FlexConnect

Most telematics only reads data and shows it on a dashboard. FlexConnect also sends control policies back to the FlexCase that runs the function. The cloud sets the rule, the FlexCase enforces it locally, and it keeps enforcing it when the cellular connection drops.

Every remote command is a supervisory request, such as a limit, a schedule, or an enable. The FlexCase keeps final authority over the vehicle, and commands can be authenticated from the cloud all the way to the controller that executes them.

FlexConnect for Towed Fleets

Dispatch Gating: Read trailer ABS fault codes and hold a trailer back until it has been inspected.

Wheel-End & Tire Alerts: Alert the driver and dispatch on a hot hub or low tire pressure, and route the trailer to service.

Cold Chain Control: Adjust reefer setpoints remotely, pre-cool before pickup, and keep an audit trail for food and pharma loads.

Cargo Security & Lockout: Use door-open detection to trigger a remote alarm or lock, and lock out trailers after hours.

Towed Vehicle Scenario: Catching a Hot Wheel End

Consider an illustrative fleet of tractor-trailers. Partway through a route, a failing bearing starts to heat one of the trailer’s hubs. Left alone, it can end in a seized wheel end, a stranded load, or a fire.

With a FlexCase on the trailer, the hub temperature is read continuously and the driver is alerted as soon as it climbs. FlexConnect notifies dispatch and marks the trailer as not dispatchable until it has been inspected. ABS fault codes are read the same way, so maintenance can fix a fault before a roadside inspection finds it. Remote actions are limited to alerts and dispatch decisions; braking always stays under the trailer’s own controller.
